Here are some answers to common questions.
Question
Why does my child sometime look forward to working on an
eleven plus paper?
Answer
It is probably because you have been steady with your child.
You may not have demanded too much or expected your child to perform like a
trained monkey. Patience and perseverance are the tenets of eleven plus
success.
Question
Why does it seem that my child is sometimes simply just out
of focus?
Answer
There are many factors affecting a focus. Food and water
often helps. A strategically placed ice-cream, for example, can contribute to a
feeling of anticipation and well-being.
A fight at school or an argument with a sibling can,
sometimes, trigger feelings of despondency. A listening ear can help to solve
many problems. (Listening – not trying to force the solving of the potential
problem.)
Question
Why do the words on some eleven plus papers and exercises
seem to be dark and muddy?
Answer
There may be a problem with perception of an impending
problem with the paper, the example or the whole session.
The room may be too dark!
Question
How can eleven plus children escape burn-out?
Answer
Developing a balanced and thoughtful program of study can
help. Lots of rest, breaks and incentives!
